Kim Kardashian canceled it with Pete Davidson nine months after they started dating, and the news hit the internet like a ton of bricks on Friday night.
The development caught many people off guard as the story broke on the heels of many signs and social media posts this apparently paints the relationship as going strong.
Naturally, fans and haters of the now ex-couple took to Twitter to joke, confront and generally talk about the rift between the reality superstar, 41, and comedian, 28 – a free- for-all which was partly fueled by one or other of the celebrities well documented and probably infamous dating stories.
Kanye West was top for countless Twitter viewers – who hasn’t exactly taken the ongoing divorce proceedings with Kardashian in stride — and how he might react to the news.
Rather than accept the reality that the Skims contractor might genuinely quit the ‘Runaway’ crooner, Ye instead began attacking Davidson with a barrage of insults and attempted to disparage him with false rumors – at one point same fantasize menacingly about his disappearance newly released tracks.
“Did Pete and Kim really break you up? I just KNOW my boy Kanye kisses them with crystals 😭,” a fan tweetedsarcastically suggesting that Ye made mystical efforts to bring about the end of the relationship.
“Kanye look [sic] to her phone seeing that Kim and Pete are done,” wrote another, sharing a photo of the “Heartbreak” rapper, 45, smiling from ear to ear.
Elsewhere, tweets poked fun at the ‘King of Staten Island’ star’s long track record, mostly short-lived romance with an array of actresses, models and, of course, ex-fiancee Ariana Grande.
“Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have broken up. You know what that means, right? Eventually every woman in the world will have to date Pete Davidson. It’s not your turn yet. a satirically suggested message.
It’s also no secret that Davidson has a tendency to ink memories to his girlfriends on his skin – often only a few months after the start of the meetings.
“Pete tattooing all the women he’s been with on him is like he’s collecting infinite stones at this point 💀,” another user observedby posting a photo of Marvel villain Thanos superimposed over the text of his infamous catchphrase, “I am inevitable.”
One of four (!) Kim-era tattoos Davidson got honoring his former girlfriend, which reads “My daughter is a lawyer,” was the butt of a few sweet ribs. “I don’t know who Pete will end up with, but hopefully his next wife will be a lawyer,” scolded a commenter.
Yet another subset of users expressed genuine disappointment with the update.
“I loved them. I didn’t expect it to last but I thought they were cute together. one confessed.
Another Pete-Kim stan echoes the sentiment: “WHAT!!! I was rooting for them! I thought it was good for Kim to have someone like Pete who is cool and humble.
