Kim Kardashian and pete davidson ended their nine-month relationship, ending an unlikely whirlwind romance that both captivated and baffled fans — and generated a seemingly endless supply of tabloid drama.
rolling stone learned that the reality TV mogul and former saturday night live The comedian split this week, citing the couple’s busy schedules and long-distance relationship as the reason for the breakup. The breakup comes just weeks after a trailer for Hulu’s next season The Kardashians showed the Skims founder and her stepfather jump together in the shower.
Kardashian, 41, and Davidson, 28, were first linked in October 2021 after the pair were spotted holding hands at Southern California theme park Knott’s Berry Farm following Kardashian’s appearance on SNL, during which they shared an on-screen kiss in a scripted skit. The two were then spotted together several times after the outing, with Kardashian even hosting a birthday bash for the comedian in November. Davidson finally publicly acknowledged the relationship during a subsequent podcast appearance in February, while Kardashian shared photos of Davidson on Instagram the following month.
The couple made a famous red carpet appearance at this year’s Met Gala, where Kardashian sported the iconic bodycon dress Marilyn Monroe wore while singing her rendition of “Happy Birthday” to then-President John F. Kennedy in May 1962.
The relationship also angered Kardashian’s ex-husband (and provided him with an important source of creativity), Kanye WestWho sadly called out Davidson in a track on his album Injury 2 and sparked numerous social media tirades against the comedian, targeting his past struggles with drug addiction and mental health issues.
In February, West posted a series of screenshots of alleged text messages between him and Kardashian, with the reality star calling her former partner’s actions “scary”, saying “someone is going to hurt Pete [Davidson] and it will all be your fault. West replied, “I will always do anything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete,” referring to the derogatory nickname West bestowed on the comedian.
On the song”easy‘, released the following month, West bragged that he had been saved from a near-death experience simply to ‘beat Pete Davidson’s ass’, posting a violent clay video to accompany the track in which a version rapper cartoon kidnaps and kills a character resembling the comedian. The video ends with an onscreen message that reads, “Everyone’s lived happily ever after except you know who,” with “Skete” conveniently crossed out. Another video from the track featured an animated version of the SNL star be beaten by a monkey.
That same month, a friend of Davidson’s leaked a series of now-deleted screenshots purportedly showing a text conversation between Davidson and West. “It doesn’t have to be like this,” Davidson reportedly wrote. “What she does for these children is incredible and you are so lucky that she is the mother of your children… We wonder what [rehab centers] do when you go for help. You should try it. I’m here for the day if you want to stop being a little internet slut and talk. A few days later, West went on a rant on social media, bragging that Davidson “had a nervous breakdown after kicking him off the internet” and claiming that the actor would get Kardashian “addicted to drugs” because “he’s in rehab every 2 months.” These messages finally led Instagram to temporarily restrict West’s account.
Davidson addressed West’s constant harassment during a stand-up routine in May, calling the ordeal a “really weird thing to go through.”
While the split between the high-profile couple seems amicable, one question remains: What will Pete do with the many tattoos related to Kim did he tag himself with earlier this year? I hope he has a good camouflage artist on the speed dial.
