Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina said he found the vehicle and arrested his prime suspect in the recent Muslim killings. Police and FBI agents arrested Muhammad Syed, 51. Police consider Syed to be the prime suspect in the recent killings. According to the police, as they were about to search Syed’s house, Syed left the house in the Volkswagen Jetta they were looking for. Once police arrested Syed, they searched his home and vehicle for evidence that linked Syed to the recent murders. Detectives have found evidence that shows Syed knew the victims and that a dispute may have led to the shooting. Syed is charged with the murder of Aftab Hussein on July 26, 2022 and the murder of Muhammad Afzaal Hussain on August 1, 2022. Police said they found bullet casings at the two scenes that connected the two shootings. The weapon that was used in both shootings was found during the search of Syed’s home. Police will work with the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office on possible charges in the August 5, 2022 murder of Naeem Hussain and the November 7, 2021 murder of Mohammad Zaher Ahmadi.
