Former president Donald Trump injected himself in the House Democratic primary races in New York – making endorsements frown on his former impeachment executioner Dan Goldman and Caroline Maloney in their respective races.
“Lawyer Dan Goldman is a candidate for Congress, NY-10, and it’s a great honor for me to strongly support him. I’m doing this not because he led the impeachment commission and he has lost, but because he was honourable, fair and very smart,” Trump said. in a report published Wednesday on its Truth Social platform.

According to recent polls, Goldman, who was the House Democrats’ chief counsel during Trump’s first impeachment proceedings, is the frontrunner in the crowded contest in the 10th congressional district.
MK Yuh-Line Niou, one of the other candidates running against Goldman, made hay Trump endorsement.
“Donald Trump just backed my multi-millionaire opponent, in case you need a refresher on the stakes. #NY10 choose your fighter,” the Manhattan congresswoman tweeted.
Goldman didn’t appreciate Trump trying to “meddle” in another election.
“Last week, Donald Trump attacked Dan Goldman, who led his impeachment. Now he pretends to endorse Goldman. True to form, Trump is trying to meddle in an election,” the Goldman campaign said.

Trump’s trolling didn’t stop there. He also gave indirect endorsement to Rep. Carolyn Maloney running for re-election in the redesigned 12th congressional district, pitting her against fellow Rep. Jerrold Nadler and challenger Suraj Patel.
“A vote for Carolyn Maloney at NY-12 is a vote for the future! She’s a kind and wonderful person, who has always said great things about me and will support me no matter what I do, just like I supported her early on,” Trump said.
