During his second quarter fiscal 2023 earnings callNVIDIA’s CEO has confirmed that their next-gen GPUs, the GeForce RTX 40 series, are coming very soon.

NVIDIA CEO on the launch of next-gen GeForce RTX 40 GPUs: “We have an exciting next generation coming up,” announces in September?

NVIDIA’s second quarter this year was brutal, with gaming revenue dropping 44% sequentially and 33% year-over-year. You can read our finance team’s full revenue report here but what we’re going to talk about is that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has confirmed that their next-gen GPUs are in.

NVIDIA has confirmed that its price adjustment on existing graphics cards came with the goal of getting rid of excess inventory to make room for the next generation of products. Jensen says next-gen graphics cards and GPU architecture are going to be really exciting, which you can read in the statement below:

Our strategy is to reduce sales – reduce sales this quarter, next quarter to allow channel inventory to correct. Obviously, we are far from the highs and the macro condition has deteriorated significantly. And so, our first strategy is to reduce sales over the next two quarters to correct channel inventory. We also have programs in place to position the prices of our current products to prepare for next-generation products.

Ampere is the most popular GPU we’ve ever created. It is among the top 15 most popular gaming GPUs on Steam. And it’s still the best GPUs in the world, and it’s going to be very successful for a while. However, we have an exciting new generation coming and they are going to add to that. And so, we took — we did two things. We have reduced sales to allow channel inventory to correct and we have programs in place with our partners to position product pricing in the channel for our next generation.

We expect all of this to be working towards being in good shape for next year. OK ? So that’s our game plan.

More importantly, Jensen also hinted to us that we can find out more about the next-gen gaming GPU architecture by next month at GTC 2022. The next iteration of NVIDIA GTC will take place on September 19 and will last until September 22, while the CEO keynote is scheduled to take place on September 20.

In gaming, our partners and ecosystem are responding to a sudden slowdown in consumer demand and fixing channel inventory. Still, the fundamentals of the game are solid. We will overcome this over the next few months and move into the next year with our new architecture. I look forward to telling you more at GTC next month.

I look forward to next month’s GTC conference, where we’ll share new advancements in RTX reinventing 3D graphics and gaming.

So it looks like we’re more or less going to have an official reveal next month in September. This will definitely not be a launch event for the next-gen GeForce RTX 40 series lineup, but rather an announcement/unveil. We look forward to what NVIDIA has in store for the gaming community.
