NFL preseason Week 3 scores, highlights, updates: Desmond Ridder rebounds from early interception, launches TD

The NFL preseason is almost over, but we still have two days of football to digest. We have eight games on Saturday, highlighted by a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl as the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

Things started Thursday night, as the Kansas City Chiefs scored a victory in front of their home fans over the Green Bay Packers, and the Houston Texans shut out the San Francisco 49ers.

Each of the 32 NFL teams will handle this week differently. Some will play their chokes a little, some will play their chokes more and some not at all. In reality, this week is more about the reserves, as the league’s coaching staffs determine who will be on their 53-man rosters.

Below, we’ll break down highlights from all 16 pre-season games. Bookmark this article as it will be your one stop shop for everything you need to see.

Touchdown from the punt block

That’s how you argue for the 53-man roster. Quinton Bell proved he could be a force on special teams with that punt block touchdown, as the Falcons extended their lead before halftime.

Falcons rookie-to-rookie connection

As Ridder threw an interception on the first play of the game on Saturday, he bounced back to lead a 15-play, 75-yard touchdown on the Falcons’ next possession. At second base, Ridder found another rookie running back Tyler Allgeier for the rating.

The Falcons have the versatility Cordarelle Patterson and Damien Williams to running back, but some expect Allgeier to play a part in his first NFL season.

Interception on the first game of the match!

Rookie Quarterback Desmond Cavalier started for Atlanta’s third and final final pre-season game Saturday, and unfortunately, he threw an interception on the first game of the match!

Check out this read from Jaguars safety Daniel Thomas:

Ben Di Nucci throws a winning TD for the Cowboys

The Cowboys were able to win their preseason final against the Seahawks thanks to Ben DiNucci throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to Peyton Hendershot. The 14-yard pass gave the Cowboys a 27-26 lead with 4:07 to go, as Dallas overcame 10 penalties to secure the win.

DiNucci is a long shot to make the Cowboys, but he could end up somewhere in the NFL next week.

Brandon Smith gets a TD sideline for the Cowboys

Brandon Smith is a long shot to make the Cowboys’ 53-man roster, but makes an impression on the coaching staff with that game-tying touchdown catch. This 8-yard catch behind the end zone of Will Grier tied the game with the Seahawks in the third quarter.

Smith leads Dallas with three catches, making the most of his last opportunity.

Sam Darnold rushes for a TD, comes out with an ankle injury

Sam Darnold, now the No. 2 quarterback at Carolina, had his fair share of quick scoring for the Panthers last season. His 1-yard score put Carolina up 21-0 over Buffalo with 7:06 left in the third quarter.

Darnold recorded a career-high five rushing touchdowns last season for the Panthers — or as many as he had his first three seasons in the league combined with the Jets.

It wasn’t all good news for Darnold, who was sent off the pitch after injuring his ankle and won’t be returning.

Drew Lock connects to the beautiful TD pass

The Drew Lock experience is fully effective. After throwing an interception in his first practice of the game, Lock got another chance to show off his arm strength. Battling for the starting quarterback position in Seattle, Lock hit penny hart on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Throws don’t get much better than this in Week 3 of the preseason.

Lock has the opportunity to take the position of Geno Smith, who started that game for Seattle. Head coach Pete Carroll says he’ll name a starter after Game 3 of the preseason.

Marc Ingram gets a second TD in the first quarter

Mark Ingram is the NFL’s top active rusher and still has a starring role with the Saints, rushing for two first-quarter touchdowns as New Orleans took a 14-0 lead over the Los Angeles Chargers. – who play the majority of their saves.

This touchdown run was 2 meters.

Mayfield won the starting quarterback job in Carolina and puts the exclamation mark on this training camp with a 19-yard strike to Shi Smith for the touchdown. Smith has been mentioned as Mayfield’s favorite target by some of Carolina’s local writers, emerging as a contender for not just a roster spot — but regular-season games as well.

Mayfield has two touchdown passes in the first quarter. Maybe that’s all for him.

To the surprise of some, the Texans starting quarterback took the field for the start of the second half. After a pedestrian in the first two quarters in which he threw an interception, Mills led a six-play, 77-yard drive that ended with a touchdown – a 16-yard strike for Chris Moore.

It’s a nice ball pass in the middle of the field. Houston has high hopes for its sophomore signalman.

It’s Bushman’s world, we just live in it

Matt Bushman is having a big night and he’s recorded 73 receiving yards on his first three catches. He scored his second touchdown of the game early in the third quarter on a play that looked like an imminent turnover.

Interception not to be missed

What initially looked like a great Texans touchdown catch turned into a 49ers interception in the blink of an eye. Kudos to both defensive backs in this game for battling for the ball. Samuel Womack I dropped it, then Tarvarius Moore somehow transported it.

Whose man was he?!

heads tight end matt bushman ran a simple corner drive, and it resulted in a 54-yard touchdown. Safety wasn’t looking his way and the cornerback thought he was passing the tight end to his teammate. This room is going to look ugly when the Chiefs rewatch the movie.

The Packers got off to a slow start Thursday night — going three-and-out on their first two possessions. Things started to click on their third practice, however, as Green Bay went 83 yards down the field in 11 plays to score the game’s first touchdown.

It was the undrafted rookie from Iowa who entered the end zone for the Packers. Check out this EXPLOSIVE run from Tyler Goodson, topped off with the spinning motion.

Texas Dameon Pierce continue hot start

Houston’s rookie running back was one of the stars of the preseason. After an impressive Week 1 outing, Pierce didn’t play last weekend. Texans head coach Lovie Smith said he picked Pierce because they saw him a lot in the first preseason game, by professional football networkwhich may mean he is RB1.

Pierce played Thursday night, however, and in the Texans’ opener, he rushed six times for 37 yards as Houston rushed for 85 yards on 11 plays and scored a touchdown. Who scored for the Texans? I’ll give you a guess.

“Choir huddle” pays tribute to Len Dawson

Earlier this week, the legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Len Dawson has died aged 87. The former No. 5 overall pick was a Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, NFL Man of the Year and a Chiefs legend. To open the Chiefs’ preseason game on Thursday night, Patrick Mahomes took the field and lined up his offense in the famous “choir huddle” to honor Dawson.

After the late game penalty, which was denied by the Packers, Mahomes trotted off the field.
