Kevin Federlin is continue to speak out publicly about his ex-wife, Britney Spears, and his relationship with their two sons: Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15.
For some context, Kevin was granted sole custody of the boys in 2008 after Britney was placed under strict guardianship, which saw her life and finances controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, and a group of lawyers.
However, Kevin and Britney – whose turbulent three-year marriage had ended the year before the conservatorship – agreed to a settlement in which she would receive two visits and one night a week.
Meanwhile, Britney has continuously provided her ex with $20,000 a month for child support, while also covering their children’s school, insurance and clothing costs. In 2018, Kevin requested an increase in this payment, which mad fans online.
Britney’s guardianship, which she has publicly described as “offensivein court, was only terminated in November 2021. Amid the heated legal battle to end the arrangement, the singer told a judge she felt her father should be in jail for his treatment towards her, before also alleging that her “entire family” refused to help her when she was forced to”donate tons of blood every weekand getting an IUD against her will.
Last month, Kevin sparked a huge backlash after publicly discussing Britney’s controversial conservatorship and complicated relationship with Preston and Jayden in an explosive tell-all interview with the Daily mail.
The DJ claimed that while the teens were ‘happy’ for Britney, they chose not to see her and therefore ‘made the decision’ not to attend her wedding to longtime partner Sam Asghari in June . “The boys have decided they don’t see her right now,” he said. “They haven’t seen her for a few months. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.
Kevin went on to allege that it was because they were upset that Britney frequently posts loosely censored nude photos, which she previously said she shared. in order to regain his power after feeling constrained by guardianship for 13 years.
“I try to explain to [Preston and Jayden]’Look, maybe it’s just another way she’s trying to express herself,'” Kevin said. “But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s hard. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be a teenager who has to go to high school.
Additionally, Kevin apparently dismissed Britney’s past remarks about the “abusive” conservatorship, as he said he believed the legal arrangement “saved” her.
“I saw this man [Jamie Spears] who really cared and really cared about his family and wanted everything to be okay,” he said. “When Jamie took over, things fell into place. He saved his life.
Kevin’s remarks quickly drew fierce criticism online, as fans wondered why he was speaking publicly about Britney’s guardianship, fatherhood and relationship with her sons.
In fact, Britney and her husband, Sam, published statements on their own publicly condemning Kevin. In a raw post on Instagram, the pop star wrote, “It saddens me to learn that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children,” she wrote. “As we all know, raising teenagers is never easy for anyone.”
“It worries me that the reason is based on my Instagram,” she continued. “It was WAY before Instagram. I gave them everything. One word: HURTING.
Shortly after, Britney shared another lengthy post discussing her relationship with her boys in more detail, saying Preston and Jayden were “unpleasant” when they visited her.
“I know teenagers are just hard to deal with at this age…but COME ON there’s being rude then there’s being HATE,” she wrote, before claiming, “they would visit me, cross the door, would go straight to their room and lock the door.
But in response, Kevin sparked further controversy by hastily sharing a series of videos of Britney arguing with their sons. “I can’t sit back and let my sons be accused like this after what they’ve been through. As much as it hurts us, we decided as a family to post these videos“, he wrote.
The videos, which appeared to have been taken without Britney’s knowledge, were removed from the platform shortly after they were posted. The singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, quickly suggested that Kevin may have broken the law by publicly sharing videos that Britney didn’t know were being shot, given that California is a bipartisan consent status.
Despite all of this, however, Kevin has now decided to speak out again about Britney’s guardianship and his relationship with Preston and Jayden, in an upcoming interview with the Australian news show. 60 minutes.
“I still feel bad for her,” Kevin said in the excerpt preview posted on Wednesday. Apparently referencing his marriage to Britney, he later added, “It was amazing…Until it wasn’t anymore.”
While the video continues to note that Kevin “wants to set the record straight on their boys’ decision,” the DJ said, “Boys, boys, boys. I had to worry about them. I couldn’t get involved.
“It’s been a few months since they actually [seen] her,” he added, while the video described the whole situation as a “family feud.”
The full interview will air on Sunday, but fans have criticized Kevin for once again drawing public attention to his and Britney’s private affairs since the preview was released.
“‘I still feel bad for her’ so why are you doing this?” kfed what’s the point then you know damn well she didn’t want this all made public”, one person wrote.
Others then accused Kevin of ‘exploiting’ Britney’s ‘trauma’ for money, as they wondered why he was only now choosing to speak out about their strained relationship.
“There wouldn’t be a family ‘feud’ if her unemployed ex wasn’t talking about her, exploiting her trauma for money,” one Twitter user said. wrote.
Britney, who is currently inactive on Instagram, has yet to publicly acknowledge Kevin’s upcoming interview. However, we’ll be sure to update you if she does.
