Goodbye, darlings.
Jason Momoa, 43, took off his long hair for a good cause yesterday, share a video on Instagram of her new, shorter ‘do’ and drawing attention to the problem of plastic pollution.
“Aloha everyone,” he began the clip, asking someone to “hand me those braids” as he held two pink scrunchie-decorated braids that had recently been cut from his head.
“Shaving your hair,” he said, laughing and rubbing his head as a breeze blew. “Ooh man, I never even felt the wind right there.”
The shirtless star revealed he was ‘doing it for single-use plastics’ as a woman buzzed on the side of his head.
“I’m sick of these plastic bottles,” said Momoa – who was named the UN Environment Program’s Advocate for Life Underwater in June. ” It has to stop. Plastic forks. Whatever it is. It just goes into our land, into our ocean.
The ‘Aquaman’ actor, who was in Hawaii while filming the haircut, said he witnessed ocean pollution in action during the visit. “It’s so sad, so please do whatever you can to eliminate single-use plastics from your life. Help me.”
“Here’s a fresh start let’s spread the aloha,” the ‘Dune’ actor captioned. “better protect our lands and oceans. we must eliminate single-use plastics from our lives and our seas. plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils, all of it. aloha our ‘āina together aloha j.”
The new cut came as a surprise to Momoa fans, with many Instagram followers commenting on a variation of “noooooo”.
Marisa Tomei and David Bautista had similar thoughts, commenting, “What!!” and “Whaaaaat?!!!”, respectively.
‘I can’t imagine how many women are losing their shit right now,’ wrote one fan, while another said, ‘Never thought I would see the light of day [shocked emoji] Somehow he always smokes hot – the man has a gift.
Momoa’s trademark long waves have been an integral part of his look for years – and his dedication to hair accessories was so strong he even launched his own scrunchies collection.
“My wife would leave me if I cut my hair, so I’m not cutting my hair,” Momoa said of his ex, Lisa Bonet, in a 2018 Daily Telegraph interview. “I’m not going to cut my hair for a while, I’ll tell you.”
However, this isn’t the first time the former ‘Game of Thrones’ actor has taken to the buzzer for a good cause. In 2019, fans lamented the end of his signature Khal Drogo look when he shaved his beard for the first time since 2012 to advertise his bottled water business: his own business, Mananalu pure waterwhich sells water in infinitely recyclable aluminum cans and removes a plastic bottle from the ocean for each consideration purchased.
Now that he is separates from Bonet and is apparently back with his girlfriend Eiza Gonzálezit seems the time had come for an even more shocking change.
